Coming off several tough losses to the Alaska Goldpanners. The Pirates were still in search of their first win of the series in Fairbanks, AK. However, last night's performance wasn’t enough as The Pirates suffered a 7-2 seven-inning loss dropping their record to 1-5-1.

As tough as this stretch has been, Pirates starter Deandrey Carter showcased a nice outing in the non-league game to give the pirates pitching staff some needed rest. Only 2 of the Goldpanners 7 runs were earned. Carter went the distance with 6IP, 7H, 2BB and 5K.

On the hitting side, The Pirates were the first to get on the board. Second baseman Lee Brandzel sparked an eventful second inning with a leadoff single. Back-to-back singles from catcher Ethan Firestone and Brady Schrank loaded the bases with zero outs. Shortstop Angelo Aleman came through with a sacrifice squeeze to make the score 1-0

The game meandered to the 5th inning when right fielder Ryan Camacho delivered with a single giving Ventura a 2-1 lead.

Unfortunately for The Pirates their 2-1 lead was not enough as the Goldpanners answered back in a big way grabbing two runs in the 5th and 4 more in and error-ridden 6th resulting in a 7-2 Final score

The Pirates struck back with a 9-4 win Thursday, handing the Goldpanners their first loss of the season. Game 6 of the 7 game set is scheduled for 8pm PST on Friday in Fairbanks Alaska.
