Bucs' Sam Grunberg Continues Family Tradition

The latest addition to the flaming hot SBL Bucs is third baseman Sam Grunberg. Sound familiar? Maybe because his brother Ben played in the outfield for the VC Pirates in 2018 and 2019, winning an SBL Championship his first year with the club.

Sam Grunberg was excited to start the season after the team won 6-3 against the OC Legends.

“After playing my first game I’m excited for the rest of the season and happy to be a part of this team,” Sam said.

Sam said he remembered his brother playing for the Bucs in 2018.

“I planned on joining and when I talked to my brother about it he told me this was definitely the way to go,” Sam said . “ “Ben said he really enjoyed his experience playing with the team and had a lot of fun with the guys over the summer”.

When asked about his brother Sam joining the Bucs, Ben Grunberg said “I think it is awesome that Sam is now playing for the Bucs. I really enjoyed my time on the Bucs and it’s cool to see him having a similar experience. Playing on the Bucs really prepared me for college baseball and I’m sure it will do the same for him.”

Bucs Associate Head Coach Bobby Livingston said “Sam is a standout talent from Calabasas and led the Marmonte League in home runs last year. Right away you can tell he understands the strike zone well and has the hand speed to see the ball deep. Those are two things that will always make him a tough out. He is going to be a tremendous boost to an already DANGEROUS lineup.”

Sam is committed to play baseball at Chapman University next spring and already showing off his bat after his first game going 2-4 with a stolen base.
