Pirates back at Home for second time this season

The Pirates, (3-9-1) (2-2), return home for their second game of the season at La Valley College, after a plethora of road games across Southern California and a long road trip to Alaska last week. After winning their first home game 10-8 over the Inland Valley Bucs, the Pirates will look to remain undefeated at home. The Pirates have struggled on the road, going just 2-9-1 thus far on the road, and 1-5 on their 6 game Alaska road trip against an elite Goldpanners team.

Pitching struggles vs good offense

The Pirates pitching staff has struggled thus far early on in the season, with a team ERA of 5.83 and allowing 4 runs or more in every game except one, a 2-0 win against the East La Dodgers. The staff has also issued 57 walks and hit batters 15 times this season, often putting runners on base and not making opposing hitters earn the base. For all the pitching struggles, the offense has performed well thus far, scoring 4 runs or more in half of their games so far and scoring 31 combined across 4 games recently.

Standout Players this season

Offensively, Ryan and Jovan Camacho have both led the way for the pirates, compiling hits and rbi in the top of the Pirates order. Ryan Camacho has started the season with a stunning .476 average, racking up 20 hits and taking 22 total bases to start the season. Jovan Camacho has started the year with a .343 batting average, recording 12 hits and taking 16 total bases in his start to the summer campaign. Robbie Treto has 3 of the Pirate’s 5 total home runs on the season, as well as 7 total hits and a .241 batting average to begin the year. On the pitching side of things, Josh Yosfan has been lights out early on, striking out ten batters, and having a 0.00 ERA in 9 ⅔ innings of work.
