Former Bucs Coach Jayson Newman Launches Walk-Off Home Run in Prospect League Debut

LAFAYETTE, IN. – As he had been anticipating while assisting Spiro Psaltis in coaching our GCCL Buccaneers team, Assistant Coach Jayson Newman got the call. After coaching his last game with the Bucs against the VAST Eagles Wednesday, he quickly packed up and headed for Indiana to play for the Lafayette Aviators of the Prospect League.

His impact was almost immediate.

Batting fifth as the designated hitter in his first game with the Lafayette Aviators, his turn to bat came up in the bottom of the ninth inning, with two runners on base and his team behind by two runs. He looked at his first two pitches to earn an even 1-1 count, and then crushed the third pitch over the wall in left field for a three run walkoff home run.
