Jay Cordero Named Metro Bucs Head Coach

This summer, the Ventura County Buccaneers of the LA Metro League will be led by Jay Cordero.


Jay lettered in both baseball and football at Pasadena High School, winning the 2009 CIF Southern Section Baseball Championship and earning CIF Scholar Athlete honors for his achievements on the diamond as well as in the classroom. Upon graduating from high school in 2011, Jay Cordero accepted an athletic scholarship to play baseball for San Diego Christian College. Jay spent 5 years in San Diego studying kinesiology and playing for the Hawks. In the 2014 season, Jay was awarded 1st team Academic All-American honors by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). In 2016, Jay received his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, with an emphasis in sports medicine.


While playing in college, Coach Jay returned to his high school alma mater and ran Pasadena’s varsity summer baseball program. This is where he got his start and developed his passion for coaching. After his playing days, Jay remained in San Diego to start up and run the San Diego Natives, one of San Diego’s premier travel ball organizations. Jay’s teams have won numerous tournaments and he is especially proud of producing many high school ready ballplayers.


Jay currently coaches at Providence High School.
