The VC Pirates showcased their power during a two-homer game beating the Inland Valley Pirates 7-4 on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Valley College to retain their first-place position in the Best of the West Standings.

You could call it a power happy day for the Pirates and after the homerun and double show that the Pirates put on. Two of Wednesday's Players of the Game were the headliners of this power day. Quintt Landis went 3-4 with a homerun, double, single, and a sacrifice fly racking up 3 RBIs for the day.

When asked about his performance, Landis said “I am happy with it”. Landis then went out to give credit to his fellow player of the game Eli Paton who went 2-4 with a homerun and a double. Each of Paton’s last four base hits have been for extra bases.

Another key of the game was the extremely consistent Pirates starting pitching. Deandrey Carter (W, 4-2) had another great start going five innings strong giving up only two runs. Carter racked up another win, making it his fourth win of the season. He is now tied with Alex Abott with the most wins in the league.

This win might have been the most important regular season. This gives the VC Pirates a 1.5 game lead in the Best of the West division with only two games left of the regular season.

The Pirates will play the SoCal Shepherds next on Saturday, July 23, at 11 am at Valley College.
