1st Place Back in the Pirates Hands

The Pirates (18-13-1) (16-5 Best of the West) find themselves tied atop of the standings with the Inland Valley Pirates. Wednesday, the Pirates are back home to face the Inland Valley Pirates, whoever wins this game takes first place in the Best of the West division. A win would put Ventura County 1.5 games ahead of Inland Valley with just two games remaining. This is the fourth and final game the Pirates will have during the regular season against the Pirates. In the three games they have played, Ventura County took 2 out 3.In the last two matchups, Ventura County has outscored Inland Valley 13 to 7.

Pirates starters have stepped up as of late delivering three stellar performances from Andrew Dusablon, Dylan Goodrich, and Alex Abbott. The starting rotation is finding its groove at the right time only giving up a total of 4 earned runs the past four games. Other than the strong starting pitching, the bullpen has done their part in shutting the door on teams in the later innings. Jimmy Urban, Kellen Montgomery, Xavier Stoker, John Paul Caire, Josh Yosfan, Andrew Dusablon, and Andrew Tovar have all shown that by only allowing 4 earned runs in their last 19 combined innings pitched. Look for the pitching to continue its dominance Wednesday night.
