On Wednesday June 29, 2022 the VC Pirates lost to the Conejo Oaks of the California Collegiate League at Cal Lutheran University 13-3, a final score which fails to represent how close the game was up until the late innings.

The Pirates started slowly getting down in the first inning 2-0. The team saw a great performance from pitcher DeAndrey Carter who went one and two thirds innings giving up no runs and no hits, striking out one hitter.

The Pirates started to show some offensive life in the fifth inning scoring two runs making the score 5-2. They added a third run the next inning.

Players of the game, Robbie Treto who played second and third base during the game went 1 for 4 with a walk and an RBI. When asked about his offensive performance he said “I felt pretty good and saw the ball really well”. He went on to talk about the overall team’s offensive, talking about some of the unluckiness they faced.

When asked about the team performance’s Coach George Vranau mentioned the lack of arms available to the team.

“Some of the lapses that we had on the mound should be expected, we’ve had five straight games in five days. We had three position players in the game pitching today”.

The VC Pirates will face the Arroyo Seco Sentinels at Brookside Park on Thursday June 30, 2022 at 6 pm.
