A Tale of Two Records

Coming off a Monday night win versus The Inland Valley Bucs, Ventura County improved their league record to 2-1 on the season. Now, they head on the road to Scolinos field in preparation to face off against the Inland Valley Pirates who are 6-2.

The Pirates have played a tough non-league schedule including two games against California Collegiate League opponents and a 7 game series in Fairbanks against the Alaska Goldpanners. Ventura County is 1-0-1 against the CCL and has an overall record of 3-8-1.

The Main Gun

RHP Brandon Doehne is set to make his second start of the season for Ventura County. He’s 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA which ranks lowest amongst all Ventura County pitchers. He’s also 1/1 on save opportunities. The 6’4 right hander tossed 5 ⅓ strong innings against Alaska last Thursday, allowing four runs on five hits while striking out one.

Firepower

Players to watch out for on the offensive side are Ryan Camacho and Robbie Treto. Camacho is having an absurd season, batting .500/.545/.553 with 19 hits, 9 runs scored and 6 RBI. As for Treto, it seems as if he's the hottest hitter on the planet right now. In his last four games, Treto is batting .400 with 3 homeruns, 2 doubles and 9 RBI.
