Bucs Drop Home Opener, 10-1

The GCCL Bucs (2-2-1, 1-2-1 GCCL) were bombarded from all sides in their home opener Friday, sinking at the hands of team Victory (1-1, all GCCL), 10-1 at Pote Field in Griffith park.

“The other team and they way they played, that’s how I expect us to play,” Bucs head coach Spiro Psaltis said.

Outfielders Ian Nord, Aaron Chazin, and Dustin Wilson along with third baseman Ricky Perez had the only hits for the Bucs, with Nord providing the Bucs only extra-base hit of the game.

“We didn’t make an adjustment against better pitching, which is something we haven’t dealt with because the offense has been productive [up to this point].” Psaltis said.

Psaltis said he didn’t think his team showed up ready to compete, but was pleased with the mechanical improvements that his pitching staff continues to make.

“The pitching actually improved for the guys that got out there, and the defense was fine enough.” Psaltis said.

The Bucs will look to regroup Saturday before concluding the home series against Team Victory Sunday, June 20th at LA Valley College. First pitch of game 1 is scheduled for 11:00a.m. with game 2 (seven innings) to follow 30 minutes after its conclusion.
