The Ventura County Bucs of the Golden Coast Collegiate League made a statement in their home opener Tuesday, defeating Victor Valley 12-5 at LA Valley College.
The Bucs Pitching showed noticeable improvement, as four pitchers combined to allow just three earned runs. Luke Kovach started the game allowing one earned run over his four innings.
“We actually took some BP off because we had to emphasize [the pitching],” Bucs head coach Spiro Psaltis said. “Something got through today, because there was a lot of improvement.”
Outfielder Ian Nord led the charge offensively with three RBI. He was a home run away from the cycle after three innings.
“We have a lot of tremendous talent,” Psaltis said.
Ventura County continues the home stand with a doubleheader against Team Victory on Friday, June 18th. First pitch of game 1 is scheduled for 1:00pm.
