Bucs Take Charge: Pro-Am Bucs Emerge Victorious in Doubleheader against Sentinels

Updated: Jun 21, 2023

The Pro-Am Bucs dominated their doubleheader against the Arroyo Seco Sentinels, sweeping both games at Los Angeles Valley College on Sunday, June 18th. With a 7-2 record heading into the games, the Bucs aimed to extend their winning streak and solidify their position in the league.

Game 1 Score: 1-3

In the first game of the doubleheader, the Bucs emerged victorious 3-1. It was a relatively low-scoring affair, but the Bucs secured the win through strong pitching and clever play. They scored two runs in the third inning, capitalizing on smart base running. The offensive output was led by Troy May, who recorded the sole hit for the Bucs, displaying his ability to deliver when it matters most. Tucker Panarisi also made his presence felt, showcasing his patience at the plate with two walks and his speed with a stolen base.

On the defensive side, the Bucs relied on pitcher Moses Escobedo. He commanded the mound, baffling the Sentinels' hitters with his pitch repertoire. Escobedo's six innings were an exhibition of precision and control. He struck out six batters in an efficient manner as he worked his way through the opposing lineup. The Sentinels' offense found little success against Escobedo, as he only allowed 3 hits on the day.

The Bucs' ability to capitalize on their limited offensive opportunities and Escobedo's outstanding pitching set the tone for their victory in the first game. It was a testament to their well-rounded approach and ability to perform under pressure.

Game 2 Score: 3-4

In the second game of their doubleheader, the Bucs carried their winning momentum, securing a hard-fought 4-3 victory. Although the Sentinels took an early lead, the Bucs quickly countered, showcasing the team's resilience. The team's offensive output was well-distributed, with multiple players contributing to scoring. Rider Gordon's clutch performance with an RBI and a double highlighted the Bucs' depth and ability to put points on the board regardless of circumstance.

Pitcher Noah Onoye played a crucial role in the victory in the second game. His strong presence on the mound helped stifle the Sentinels' offense, as he allowed only two hits and struck out three batters during his three-inning appearance. The Bucs' defense also played a significant part, committing only two errors and displaying precision and teamwork.

With these two victories, the Pro-Am Bucs extended their impressive record to 9-2 for the season. Their success against the Arroyo Seco Sentinels continued, winning every game against them thus far. The Bucs' ability to execute their game plan, both offensively and defensively, allowed them to emerge victorious.

Looking ahead, the Pro-Am Bucs will face off against the Biscuits on Thursday, June 22nd, at 4:30 pm. The game will take place at San Bernardino Valley College. This will provide an opportunity for the Bucs to maintain their winning momentum and further solidify their position as a force to be reckoned with in the league.
