The Pro-Am Bucs faced a formidable challenge in a doubleheader against the Long Beach Legends on Saturday, July 22nd, at Long Beach City College. With both games shortened, the Bucs looked to make an impact against the Legends.
Game 1
The first game concluded with a convincing 2-15 victory for the Long Beach Legends. The Legends started strong, scoring five runs in the first inning. The Bucs responded with one run in the second, but the Legends piled on four more runs in the same inning. Although the Bucs added another run in the fourth, the Legends broke loose with six runs in the fourth inning, securing a commanding lead. The Bucs struggled to match the Legends' offense, finishing with only five hits compared to the Legends' 13.
Notable Performances:
Carson Panarisi led the Bucs with 2 hits and scored both of the team's runs, including an impressive triple.
Rider Gordon contributed with a hit, an RBI, and a walk.
Game 2
In the second game of the doubleheader, the Bucs continued to face challenges, ultimately losing 1-12 in six innings. The Bucs struck first, scoring one run in the third inning. However, the Legends answered with two runs in the third. In the fifth inning, the Legends exploded with nine runs, securing a significant lead. The Legends added another run in the sixth inning, leaving the Bucs with a daunting deficit. The Bucs' four errors proved costly, as the Legends capitalized on the opportunities presented to them.
Notable Performances:
Connor Bell showed resilience, contributing 2 hits and an RBI in the game.
Despite the losses, the Bucs displayed determination and competitive spirit, highlighting their potential for improvement as the season progresses. The series against the Long Beach Legends provided valuable lessons and insights for the team to work on and grow stronger in upcoming games.
