The SBL player of the week is a Ventura County Pirate for the second week in a row, as shortstop Frank Garriola took the honor for the week beginning June 23.
Garriola earned the designation a week after Kyle Soberano, the other half of the Pirates’ middle infield, did the same.
Garriola went an unbelievable 11-19 between June 23 and June 29. He had six RBI to match his six extra-base-hits which included a home run and a triple.
The power hitter leads the team this year with 11 doubles, 25 RBIs, and a 1.418 OPS. He is currently on an eight game hit streak.
Garriola and the Pirates return travel to Thousand Oaks to face the Conejo Oaks of the California Collegiate League 4:30 p.m. Friday, July 5.
