Pro-Am League All Stars vs. Alaska Goldpanners: Series Recap



In a special tournament held in Fairbanks, Alaska, the Pro-Am League All Stars, an all-star team featuring seven players from Ventura County's Pro-Am Bucs, journeyed to Alaska to face the formidable Alaska Goldpanners in an exhilarating four-game road trip series. The series commenced on July 17th and concluded on July 20th, providing baseball enthusiasts with an exciting display of talent and sportsmanship.


Game 1: July 17


The first game of the series, held on July 17th, witnessed a thrilling matchup, with the Pro-Am All Stars prevailing 9-3. In a display of offensive prowess, the Pro-Am Team opened the game firing on all cylinders. The Pro-Am team struck first with 2 runs in the second inning, which the Goldpanners matched with 2 runs in the following inning. Unfazed, the Pro-Am Team responded with 2 more runs in the 5th inning and an impressive 3 runs in the 7th, establishing a commanding 7-2 lead. Both teams added a run in the 8th inning, but the Pro-Am All Stars secured the win with a final score of 9-3, fueled by 19 hits.


Matthew Leiterman stood out among the all-stars for his talent, delivering a standout performance with 2 runs scored, three hits, and a stolen base. Meanwhile, Brodie Romero was his usual self as he played a pivotal role with 2 runs, 3 hits, and 2 RBIs, including two doubles, making a significant impact on the team's offensive success.


Game 2: July 18


The Goldpanners responded emphatically in the second game of the series on July 18th, earning a decisive 17-2 victory over the Pro-Am All Stars. Playing on their home turf, the Goldpanners dominated the game, outclassing their opponents offensively and defensively. The Goldpanners made a bold statement with 4 runs in the first inning, setting the tone for the rest of the match. While both teams scored one run in the second inning, the Goldpanners extended their lead with 3 runs in the 4th inning.


Despite the Pro-Am Team's single run in the 6th inning, the Goldpanners responded with 2 more runs in the same inning. This was followed by an overwhelming 5 runs in the 7th, and 2 more in the 8th. The game concluded with a 17-2 victory for the Goldpanners, emphasizing their ability to score with 18 hits in the game.


Moses Escobedo, who took the mound for the Pro-Am All Stars, faced a tough day, pitching for 4 innings and giving up 8 hits, 5 earned runs, and a home run.


Game 3: July 19


The third game of the series, held on July 19th, proved to be a tightly contested battle throughout the abbreviated 6 innings. The Goldpanners secured a narrow 8-7 win over the Pro-Am All Stars. The Pro-Am Team displayed their fighting spirit, jumping to an early lead with 1 run in the first inning and 3 runs in the second. However, the Goldpanners rallied back with 2 runs in the second inning, followed by an impressive 5-run 4th inning. The Pro-Am Team mounted a late surge, scoring 3 runs in the 6th inning, falling just one run short of tying the game. The game concluded with a final score of 8-7 for the Goldpanners.


Brody Romero was a standout for the Pro-Am Team, scoring 2 runs on one hit and a walk. Andrew Sharp made his presence felt and delivered a crucial triple while adding one run.


Game 4: July 20


The final game of the series, played on Thursday, July 20th, saw a flurry of hits and scoring from both teams. The Goldpanners emerged victorious, winning 15-10. The Goldpanners gained an early advantage, scoring 4 runs in the first inning. The Pro-Am Team responded with 1 run in the 3rd inning, but the Goldpanners added 2 more runs in the 4th, setting the score at 6-1. Despite the deficit the Pro-Am Team was not done, coming back with 5 runs in the 5th inning, leveling the game. The Pro-Am Team further added 2 runs in the 7th and 8th innings, gaining a substantial lead. However, the Goldpanners unleashed a 9-run rally in the 8th inning, securing their victory 15-10.


Andrew Sharp stood out with 2 runs, 2 hits, and 2 RBIs. Alex Olvera showcased his skills with 2 runs, 2 hits, 1 RBI, and a steal. Steven Murray added 1 run, 1 hit, and 2 RBIs, with a walk, and even pitcher Moses Escobedo contributed with an RBI on a sacrifice fly in his one at-bat. Zach Mora finished the trip with 3 runs and 4 hits


The Pro-Am All Stars concluded the four-game series with a 1-3 record against the Alaska Goldpanners. The games provided fans with exhilarating moments, showcasing both teams' competitive spirit and talents. While the Goldpanners' home field advantage played a significant role in their victories, the Pro-Am All Stars displayed resilience and determination, making the games highly competitive and action-packed. As the tournament concluded, both teams left a mark, creating memorable experiences for players and fans alike.


Throughout the road series against the Alaska Goldpanners, the Pro-Am Bucs players faced a mix bag of challenges and triumphs. They showcased their skills on the diamond and demonstrated great teamwork, leaving a lasting impression on the competitive games played during their journey.As the players return home, they carry with them the experiences gained from this special tournament, setting the stage for future encounters in their respective leagues.
