Ventura County Pirates to Play Three Most Recent California Collegiate League Champions in 2021.

The Ventura County Pirates of the Sunset Baseball League (SBL) have released their full non-league schedule, a slate which includes riveting matchups against the three most recent California Collegiate League (CCL) Champions.

Ventura County will face off with the Santa Barbara Foresters, the Conejo Oaks, and the Orange County Riptide for a total of eight matchups against the CCL champions from 2019, 2018, and 2017, respectively The Pirates defeated each of those teams in the 2019 season and have a 17-9 record against CCL opponents over the last three years.

The Santa Barbara Foresters hold the record for the most CCL championships, and won most recently in 2019. The Pirates will face the Foresters on July 4th, July 16th, and July 22nd under the lights at Pershing Park, home field of Santa Barbara Community College.

The most recent matchup between the Foresters and Pirates was a nailbiter, with the Pirates edging out a 4-3 victory in 2019.

The Conejo Oaks topped California’s most prestigious summer baseball league in 2018 and will face the Pirates at Cal Lutheran University on June 18th, then again on July 3rd. Ventura County toppled the Oaks 10-0 on July 5 2019 at Cal Lutheran.

Ventura County will open the 2021 season with three games against Southern-California CCL teams the week of June 15th, beginning with a home-and-home against the Arroyo Seco Saints. The first clash with the Saints will be at Brookside Park near the historic Rose Bowl on June 15 with the Saints traveling to Los Angeles Valley College the next day.

In 2017 the Orange County Riptide stood atop the CCL at the end of the season. They will play host to the Pirates at Great Park in Irvine on June 25th and July 1st under the lights.

The most recent matchup between the Pirates and the Riptide was a thriller in 2019. The Pirates rallied from a four-run deficit for the 9-8 victory helped by Jason Ajamian’s walk-off three-run homer with one out in the ninth inning.

July 22nd vs Santa Barbara Foresters at: Pershing Park, Santa Barbara , 6:00p.m.
